India and Germany have launched a joint program using AI and satellite imagery to map inland flood risk areas. The program uses Sentinel satellite data and AI algorithms to model flood dynamics in real-time. Pilot projects are being tested in Ganges delta and Odisha’s coastal plains. Alerts will be disseminated via WhatsApp and local FM channels. Experts believe this will enhance disaster preparedness and reduce flood damage.
